YILPORT / Grupo YILDIRIM is available and interested in investing more in the Port of Leixões, making it capable of competing with the main ports of the Iberian Peninsula.

At the ceremony that marked the launching of the reconversion works of the South Container Terminal, YILPORT showed what it intends to do at the North Container Terminal.

In essence, the proposal is to create a terminal with -16 meters draft and capacity to handled 1 million TEU / year.

For this, YILPORT proposes to start by resizing the current terminal (increasing the length and width of the quay), to quickly extend it to the area occupied by the current marina and, at a later stage, extend it with a new quay to be built next to the North Pier, between the marina and the oil terminal.

Robert YILDIRIM left the vision and the challenge, insisting that the Port of Leixões is the "jewel" of the Group in the Iberian Peninsula, and that its place is in the Champions League of European container terminals.
