Container handling in Mainland ports, measured in TEU, fell 14.2% to about 926,000 TEU.

Yilport Leixões handled close to 202,000 TEU in the same period, representing a decrease of only 2.5%. That is to say, it has reinforced its importance and share in the national market.

According to the Mobility and Transport Authority (AMT), the global numbers were greatly penalised by the break in transhipment moves.

As is well known, in the Port of Leixões the transhipment traffic of containers is practically non-existent. On the contrary, Yilport Leixões lives to and from its hinterland, serving the exports and imports of companies settled there.
