The Port of Leixões - and Yilport Leixões - was the only one to grow in container handling between January and September, according to data released by the Mobility and Transport Authority (AMT).

In the first ten months of 2018, Yilport Leixões handled 480.4 thousand TEU, 1.8% more than in the same period of 2017. In September alone, growth reached 13.2%, according to the AMT.

With this result, the Leixões container terminal strengthened its market share and leadership in the domestic import / export container market.

Meanwhile, the global container handling at mainland ports measured in TEU declined 1.9% year-on-year, the regulator said.

Between January and September there were 2.25 million TEU, down 1.9% compared to the same period last year.
