Between January and July, the handling of containers in mainland ports fell by 6.4%. In Leixões, it only dropped 0.2%.

Data are from the Mobility and Transport Authority (AMT). In the first seven months of the year, mainland ports handled 1,547,880 TEU. Leixões alone counted 409,502, thereby increasing its market share to 26.5%.

The result of YILPORT Leixões is all the more significant then, on the one hand, since March the country has been living under the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and, on the other hand, the comparison is made with 2019, which was the best year ever to the Leixões Container Terminal.

In global terms, in the first seven months of the year, the port of Leixões maintains its market share of 22%, with 10.2 million tonnes processed.
