![]() 2017-09-14 With 364,000 TEU processed, Yilport Leixões retained the leading position in the handling of import-export containers in the first seven months of the year, according to data from the Mobility and Transport Authority (AMT). Between January and July, Yilport Leixões handled practically doubled the containers of the second largest national operator. Globally, the handling of containers reached 1.8 million TEU, with transhipment moves accounting for more than 42% of that global. Mainland ports handled 57 million tonnes in the first seven months of the year. The result represents a record for the period in question and a year-on-year gain of 7.1%. At Leixões, 11.2 million tonnes were handled, a new maximum and a growth of 7.4%, compared to the first seven months of 2016. |
