TRUCKS WAITING JUST 11 MINUTES AT TCL
2016-02-05

Eleven minutes, eleven minutes only was the average waiting time of each of the trucks that entered Leixões Container Terminal for delivering or picking up containers in January,.
Putting it in another way, 11.0 minutes was the average time that elapsed since the passage of the truck in the canopy located at the VILPL (Internal Connecting Lane to the Port of Leixões) until it was authorised to enter the Port of Leixões and TCL to move their boxes, after the registration was made in the Information Systems.
In line with this performance, 40.7 minutes was the average time of stay of each truck inside the port of Leixões’s perimeter, in January.
In other words, just less than 41 minutes, on average, between the time that each truck entered the 3PL (Main Gateway of the Port of Leixões) to unload/load containers and the time when the same vehicle crossed the Gate in the opposite direction following to its destination.
And in this average time are computed all operations carried out regardless of the stackings where they have taken place.
Such responsiveness is only possible with the use of powerful IT tools, qualified professionals and suitable cargo handling equipment.
But TCL is well aware of the importance of speed for the supply chains and, of course, for the performance and profitability of the road hauliers.
