"THOMAS MAERSK" WAS SHIP OF THE WEEK TWICE 2014-08-13 With just one scale, the "Thomas Maersk" achieved the feat of being the Ship of the Week at the Leixões Container Terminal in two consecutive weeks. The situation is rare but, as it turns out, possible and, more, easily explainable. It just so happens that the ship from Maersk Line arrived at TCL and began to be operated even during week no. 31 (August 2), but concluded the cargo handling only on August 4, in the beginning of week no. 32. More, in both weeks, "Thomas Maersk" was the ship that handled more containers: precisely those corresponding to 1,708 TEU. And so, the ship from Maersk Line managed, at a stroke, two titles as Ship of the Week. Important to remember, finally, that despite of the call delay of three days, TCL ensured the containers handling to an average rate of 62 movements per hour of effective work. |
