TCL’S RECORD HELPS LEIXÕES’ RECORD

The Port of Leixões closed the year 2014 with 18.1 million tonnes handled. A record for which greatly contributed the containerized cargo and the maximum of 659,050 TEU handled by the TCL.
The result obtained by the Port of Leixões represents a gain of 5.3% over the previous record achieved in 2013.
The containerized cargo increased by 3.5% year-on-year, surpassing the 6.5 million tonnes.
The ro-ro cargo "blasted" 438%, from 75 thousand tonnes (in 2013) to close to 405 thousand tonnes in the year ended.
The fractional general cargo was up 14% by the million tonnes. The dry bulk rose 10.9% to 2.3 million tonnes and the liquid bulk kept the 7.8 million tonnes recorded in 2013.
In 2014, exports through the Port of Leixões rose 6.7% year- on-year, reaching 5.8 million tonnes.
With these results, the Port of Leixões and TCL confirmed their top positions in the national context.
