TCL PAYS 25% OF THE TOTAL OF NATIONAL CONCESSIONS RENTS 2015-12-09 In the first half, TCL paid 8.87 million euros to the Port Authority for the Leixões container terminal concession. Together, all the concessions yielded to their port authorities’ 36 million euros by the end of June. The figures are contained in the latest report of the Project Monitoring Technical Unit (UTAP) and leave no room for doubt: alone, TCL supports about 25% of the rents of the national port concessions! At the end of the year, if initial forecasts are confirmed (and the TCL has already surpassed what was expected in the first half), the Leixões Container Terminal will have handed to the Port Authority 16.6 million euros. It is a large burden, no doubt, and is also the measure of success of TCL’s concession, since the rents’ variable component reflects the level of the terminal activity. Although being the concessionaire that, by far, more rents pays in the national context, TCL naturally envisages this contractual obligation. And just expects that its rental payments to the Port Authority are employed exclusively in improving the conditions of operation of the Port of Leixões. For the benefit of the port, the region served by it and the country. |
