TCL EXCEEDS THE 411,000 TEU AT THE END OF AUGUST 2015-09-03 In the first eight months of the year, the Container Terminal handled 411.765 TEU, corresponding to 257,958 containers. Compared to the same period in 2014, when were achieved the concession’s record figures, the results now registered represent a decrease in around 6%. In August, TCL handled 31,818 containers (-11%), to which corresponded 50,983 TEU (-9%). The fall in trade with Angola continues to be the main explanation for the decrease in the handling of containers at Leixões. In particular, the retraction in empty containers handling (repositioning) is verified. In fact, with regard to the handling of full containers with local cargo (excluding transhipment), the month balance at TCL was positive with an annual increase of about 2.5% both in number of containers and in number of TEU. |
