TCL EXCEEDS 500,000 TEU IN OCTOBER
2015-11-03

In a particularly difficult year, the Leixões Container Terminal in the first ten months has added more than 500,000 TEU handled. Precisely: 516,398.
The difficulties, already known, are related mainly, if not exclusively, with the decrease in exports to Angola. Whereas, however, it has been mitigated by the setting/capture of other types of traffic.
And that is how, despite the sharp contraction of the main export market, TCL can contain the accumulated losses only by 6% year-on-year.
In October, the result was even more positive, in relative terms, with a loss of only 3.6% over the same month in 2014 with 56,630 TEU handled.
When has only two months left for end of 2015, the Leixões Container Terminal is in good condition to again surpass the threshold of 600,000 TEU handled. If confirmed, it is a remarkable result. From what has been said about the performance of exports and because at the Leixões Container Terminal there are no relevant transhipment movements: prevailing the import and export movements.
