TCL ENDS THE YEAR ON THE WATERLINE
2016-01-05

After months of successive losses, driven mainly by the slowing down of exports to Angola, the Leixões Container Terminal closed the month of December in line with the achieved in the same month in 2014.
In the last month of 2015, TCL handled 49,019 TEU, representing a decrease of only 0.27% over the accomplished a year ago.
With this result, TCL closed the year with a total of 615,236 TEU handled. This means a decrease of 6.7% on the record for 2014 but that also means the consolidation of the level of activity above 600,000 TEU/year.
A score worthy of note, though, knowing, as well known, that for years the Leixões Container Terminal works very close to its maximum capacity, on the verge of congestion, but with an operating performance that is not afraid of comparisons.
Finally, it is never enough to emphasize that the containers handled in TCL are almost exclusively import-export. Practically no transhipment. And yet Leixões is confirmed as the fifth Iberian port in the segment of containers.
