RECORD OF 21.7 MILLION TONNES FOR NATIONAL PORTS

The movement of goods at the Mainland ports reached 21.7 million tonnes in the first quarter, according to Mobility and Transport Authority (AMT).
In annual terms, the verified result represents an increase of 3.5%. And marks a record for the period.
The containerised cargo grew 12.4% and reached 7.1 million tonnes. The general cargo (including containerised, fractional and ro-ro cargo) rose 6.3% up to 8.8 million tonnes. The dry bulk totalled 5.1 million tonnes (4.9%). As for the liquid bulk they dropped 0.4% to 7.7 million tonnes.
Between January and March, the port of Leixões handled 4.3 million tonnes.
