PORTS WITH RECORD OF ALMOST 90 MILLION TONNES

The major mainland ports handled 88.9 million tonnes last year, 2.5% more than in 2014 and a new record high.
The port of Leixões contributed to the national total by 18.8 million tonnes, a record high, growing 3.7% year on year.
Growing to record levels they were also Sines and Aveiro, while Lisbon, Setúbal, Figueira da Foz and Viana do Castelo lost cargoes when compared to the previous year.
Last year, the major mainland ports handled 37.1 million tonnes of general cargo (4.7% more year on year), 32.7 million tonnes of liquid bulk (13.1% more) and 19.1 million tonnes of dry bulk (4.1 % more).
