PORTS WITH AN 82.5 MILLION TONNES RECORD

The movement of goods in major continent ports reached last year's record volume of 82.5 million tonnes. When compared with the registered in 2014, there was an increase of 4%, which extended to 27% cumulative increase in the cargo handled in the past four years. The port of Leixões strengthened its position in the national context, by growing 4.1% to a record high of more than 18 million tonnes. The Leixões’ market share reached thus 21.7%. The containerized cargo gave a decisive contribution to the records set (especially in Leixões, Setúbal and Sines). The handling of containers reached a record of more than 2.5 million TEU. In Leixões, the TCL raised the bar beyond the 666,000 TEU, making 2014 the best year of the concession. So far...
