In the first 11 months of last year, mainland ports handled 85.4 million tonnes, up 4.1% year-on-year and a new record, said the Transport and Mobility Authority (AMT). The port of Leixões handled 16.6 million tonnes, 3.7% less than in the same period of 2015, penalised mainly by the stop of several months of the oceanic single buoy, for maintenance works. Among the other ports, only Sines and Figueira da Foz grew compared to 2015, especially the port of Alentejo (which benefited from the transfer of crude oil unloading from Leixões), with a growth of 16.1% and a total of 46,8 million tonnes. |
