NATIONAL PORTS GROW 11% IN THE HALF-YEAR

The movement of goods in major national ports reached 44.4 million tonnes in the first half, a record amount and a gain of 11.2% over the same period of 2014.
The port of Leixões handled 9.6 million tonnes (20.6% of the national total), advancing 3.5% and setting a new record high for the first half.
In maximum they were also the ports of Sines and Aveiro. Unlike the ports of Lisbon, Setúbal, Figueira da Foz and Viana do Castelo, who reversed in view of the achieved a year ago.
The handling of liquid bulk was the fastest growing in the half-year: 19.1% to 16.1 million tonnes. Followed by the dry bulk, rising 12.2% up to 9.7 million tonnes, and general cargo, with a gain of 4.8% and 18.6 million tonnes processed.
