Mediterranean Shipping Company, nr. 2 in the world of containers maritime transport, was in 2009 TCL’s biggest customer in number of units handled, and thus, a fair winner of the “Top Five” of the ship-owners.
However, in December, the sector world’s number one, Maersk Line, was able to exceed the competition, changing places with MSC. Wth this move, it strengthens its second place in the final ranking.
In December, the 3rd place in number of handled containers was Wec Lines. The CMA CGM Group was fourth. And Nile Dutch Africa Line was fifth.
The third place of the podium in 2009 was filled by the CMA CGM Group, before Wec Lines and Transinsular.
