For the fifth consecutive year, the Port of Leixões broke the record of handled goods. In 2015, it reached 18.7 million tonnes, 6.7% more than in 2014. The containerised cargo contributed about six million tonnes to the total. A decrease of 8% compared to the maximum of 2014 but a result that has to be seen in light of the sharp drop in exports to Angola. The movement of containers yielded 6.4%, with TCL to be able to compensate, in part though, the drop in flows to Angola with other traffic. Moreover, TCL has also contributed to the success seen in ro-ro cargo, which increased 73% to 705,000 tonnes. TCL, it should be noted, is responsible for the operation of CLDN’s ships, calling the port of Leixões three times a week. Among the other aggregates, liquid bulk rose 6.7% to 8.4 million tonnes; dry bulk rose 10.5% to around the 2.6 million tonnes; and fractional general cargo grew 12.1% to around 1.1 million tonnes.
