The Port of Leixões, between January and May, handled 8.1 million tonnes, which represents a gain of 10% over the same period of 2016 and constitutes a new historical maximum for the first five months of the year.

With this performance, Leixões maintained its market share of 20% (18% in general cargo, 13% in solid bulk and 26% in liquid bulk).

Between January and May, mainland ports handled 40.6 million tonnes (10.1% more), a new high for the period in question, supported by the record results of Leixões, Aveiro and Sines.

In total, 18.5 million tonnes of general cargo (+ 17.5%), 13.9 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargoes (+ 3.8%) and 8.2 million tonnes of solid bulk cargoes (+ 5.9%).
