The Port of Leixões had the best of the last ten years in January 2017 in terms of cargo handling. In total, 1.6 million tonnes were handled, 12% more than in the same period of 2016.

Liquid bulk increased 25.7%, to 697.7 thousand tonnes, while solid bulk increased 21.1%, to 282.3 thousand tonnes

In general cargo, containerised cargo fell by 7.4% to 483 thousand tonnes. Instead, the fractional cargo advanced 8.7% and touched the 81.9 thousand tonnes. And the ro-ro cargo increased by 21.2%, to 79.8 thousand tonnes.

In January, import cargoes at Leixões increased by 26.1%, while export cargoes only improved by 0.4%.
