The Port of Leixões handled 8.8 million tonnes in the first six months of 2016, announced the Port Authority.
Still, the result of 8.8 million tonnes recorded in late June represents a decrease of 3%, as a consequence of the reduction in the handling of bulk cargo.
On the contrary, the ro-ro cargo was in high, with an annual increase of 30.8%, and fractional general cargo, with an increase of 8.1%.
The containerised cargo confirmed its importance in the overall activity of the port, with an increase of 11.9% over the same period of 2015. The handling of containers reached a historic record of 332,175 TEU.
From Leixões, the domestic exports go to 184 countries.
