LEIXÕES GROWS 3% UNTIL JULY
2015-08-26

In the first seven months of the year, the Port of Leixões handled 10.7 million tonnes, which represents an annual growth of 3%, setting a new high for the period from January to July.
The ro-ro cargo was the one that grew the most: 89% to 388,000 tonnes. The dry bulk advanced 22% to 1.6 million tonnes and general cargo rose 15% up to 672 000 tonnes. The liquid bulk accounted for 4.6 million tonnes (2%).
Accumulated in the first seven months of the year, containerised cargo fell by 9% year-on-year but still accounted for 3.5 million tonnes.
As is known, the containers handling at Leixões has been strongly conditioned by the difficulties experienced in the Angolan market. However, prospects are likely to improve, as heralds the return of TCL to growth already in July.
