The company Ferrol Container Terminal SA (FCT), concessionaire of the container terminal in the outer harbour of Ferrol, owned 100% by TCL, just received from Port Authority the licence to render stevedoring services.
The licence is the first step required to FCT start operations. The licence will be valid for the maximum period allowed by Spanish Law, 30 years, which can be extended later on. Even because the licence is linked to the concession agreement referring to the container terminal which was granted for an initial period of 35 years, being in progress the procedure for the extension of the concession period.
The container terminal has depth of -20 meters alongside. At this stage, with a quay wall of 800 meters and about 6,5 hectares of paved stacking área, the terminal has 2 ship-to-shore cranes able to handle Post-Panamax vessels up to 18 container tiers wide.
