2014-09-17

The Port of Leixões handled 11.9 million tonnes in the first eight months of the year, 2% more than in the same period of 2013.
The containerized cargo has increased the most: 8%, from 4.1 million to 4.4 million tonnes. An absolute record, decisive for the new record hit by Leixões.
Another important contribution was given by ro-ro, which increased from 26,000 to 234,000 tonnes, from last year to the current. Interestingly, most of this cargo is also handled by TCL.
Fractional general cargo grew 1% to 664,000 tonnes.
Stopping a better overall performance of Leixões, the liquid bulk fell 5% to 5.2 million tonnes, and bulk solids yielded 3% to 1.4 million.
