According to the Mobility and Transport Authority (AMT), in the first ten months of this year, the mainland ports handled 81,3 million tonnes.
This value represents a new record for this period, represents a 5,1% growth compared to October last year.
Leixões handled 16,4 million tons, 1,2 million tons more compared to the same period of 2016 and a new maximum.
Among other ports, the Mobility and Transport Authority highlights the recovery of Lisbon and the high numbers of Sines and Aveiro. Viana do Castelo and Figueira da Foz also had a significant growth.
Among the main ports, Setúbal was the only one to lose against the homologous period of 2016.
Overall cargo reached 34,8 million tonnes (+ 6,1%), with a 28,8 million tonnes (+ 8,8%) containerised cargo contribution.
Solid bulk increased 13,7% to 17,2 million tonnes. Liquid bulk decreased 0,5% to 29,3 million tonnes.
